Trauma changes your entire life. You need every bit of help you can get. This website will provide you with some of that help: it will show you how to heal your life. CLICK HERE on the blue words to watch a great video about how you too can start to heal.

life-after-trauma-bookwhatimeaniscoverIf your trauma includes a brain injury and you're having trouble with your language and putting words together properly, you need this book: "What I Mean Is...". It's a workbook and is everything you need for someone - a good friend, careworker, nurse, family member or another speech therapist - to work with you. This book is the only one of its kind - it really will help you put your language back together. By helping each other, we can survive this ordeal. Whatever it is. However impossible it seems right now. Learn about the effects of trauma - which is very similar whether you have an emotional or physical trauma - by reading some of the articles on this site. This book, Life After Trauma, is a good read too.

Accident TBI ABI Neurological Injury Stroke Heart Attack MS ALS Chemobrain Cancer

Spinal Cord Injury (We'll publish a complete list of diagnoses as we get them written or sent to us …)

Some of us went through the acute stages of our trauma years ago and have strategies to offer. Like many others, I was told I would never walk again – but I did. I would like to share how that was possible. Recently Dr Jill Bolte-Taylor, who was a neuroscientist at the time she suffered a massive stroke walks us through her entire ordeal, step by step. Ever wanted to know what experiencing a stroke feels like? The effects of a stroke are very similar to many different kinds of brain injury so this video is very interesting to watch, whatever your injury. CLICK HERE (on the blue words) to watch this incredible video.

Shave precious years (yes, years not minutes) off your recovery time by trying some of the tips in the articles within this website. And save precious money by researching various therapies here too, before you try them.

If you don’t find your diagnosis here, tell me. If you would like to start the ball rolling about your condition, email me about you writing an article about your experience… (Or send me some information and I can write it for you, with or without your name as co-author).

This website particularly addresses neurological trauma because often the neurological component of trauma is particularly difficult. This is not always the case, though, and increasingly other diagnoses are being addressed - for example spinal cord injuries and phantom limb pain. At the same time it is the emotional component of any trauma that links us, regardless of diagnosis. There is a lot of information here too.

On this website you will find latest news of breakthroughs in treatment, information and articles, village community forum, directory of therapists and practical - often free - downloads and speech therapy books so you can start your rehabilitation right now, while you are waiting for a place in your local program.

If you have a question – any question – or would like to offer me your feedback, please email me.

Good luck! And Hi to you today Cindy and Sunny - Julie
