Reiki Therapy

REI is the Japanese word which means 'universal' and is also a reference to the higher dimension of light and soul.
KI is the Japanese word which means the 'vital life force energy which connects all'. KI means the same as CHI in Chinese, which is over 4,000 years old, and used in physical training, mental development and meditation.

Therefore, REIKI can be defined as 'spiritually guided life force energy'. It more closely describes the experience most people have of it: REIKI guiding itself with it's own force, independent of the practitioner. The practitioner is like a vessel, through which this life force energy flows to the one under treatment.
A REIKI 'MASTER' is just another name for 'TEACHER'. It means he/she has taken the level of courses and number of hours and experience required to be able to teach. It is a great honor to be able to be a 'giver' of Reiki. It is a gift to be treated carefully and with respect.... and humbly. Reiki Masters are not themselves 'Healers'. They are the 'vessels' through which higher healing flows. When working with a client, the Reiki practitioner works quietly, in a serene setting, to ensure the utmost calm and allowing the Reiki to work.
Because Reiki is guided by the God-consciousness, it can never do harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create the effect that is appropriate for them. One never need worry about whether to give Reiki or not. It is always helpful. It is one of the very few modalities allowed in hospitals as natural treatment alongside medical treatment.
What does Reiki Treat and Heal?
We are alive because life force is flowing through us. And around us. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. But it can become unbalanced, disrupted. Reiki treatments help balance the body, so that healing energy can begin to flow through the body. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
Reiki is both powerful and gentle. In it's long history of use, it has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury, including serious problems like: multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and cancer, as well as skin problems, cuts bruises, broken bones, headaches, colds, flu, sore throat, sunburn, fatigue, insomnia, impotence, poor memory, lack of confidence, and other emotions. It accelerates our natural healing ability. Often profound relaxation, a sense of well-being, and some form of relief from pain are experienced.
Reiki is safe, non-invasive, simple (yet profound!) way to heal the body. It can be given by the practitioner laying hands in certain areas and pressure points of the body, or holding their hands slightly above areas of the body, or both methods combined together. Treatments can be given on a massage table, or while the client is sitting in a chair. Treatments are usually 1 hour, but can be as little as 10 minutes and still be amazingly effective.

"I had a blood clot in my left hip area for months. While under treatment, I felt intense pressure when Jo-Ann's hands were on that area. Then I felt a release. The next week when I went to my doctor, he reported the blood clot was gone. Gone!"

I have severe Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, and had been for physio and aqua therapy that day and was still in great pain. (After treating a cancer patient in her home, I called to follow up on the previous day's session.) Her husband said: "She was ever so grateful. She went to sleep and did not awaken until 8:00p.m.(6 hours after treatment) Apparently she was able to go without one dose of her morphine and felt very peaceful and comfortable and said she had been so fearful of her impending experiences but now she felt she could face it and work through it. She would like to do this again next Saturday after her chemo on Friday.
