Applied Metapsychology, TIR & Life Stress Reduction Therapy
Written by Nancy Day
In today’s fast-paced world, life presents us with many challenges. Some of these challenges are directly related to past traumatic incidents, known or unknown. It seems like everyone has something to deal with, something to “manage or avoid.” Some individuals seem to have more than their share of burdens, resulting in loss of hope and interest in life. Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) and related techniques of a subject called Applied Metapsychology restores hope that things can be different.
Applied Metapsychology is a one-on-one approach that consists of a unique session protocol and structured techniques which bring about a calm mind, one that serves rather than torments. When things are not going as one would like, the mind is the first part of a person’s environment he needs to deal with because it is the part that is closest to the person. Applied Metapsychology is a systematic approach which enables an individual to inspect and eliminate mental baggage. In doing so, he eliminates the need to manage or avoid life. Handling one’s mental baggage brings about a higher quality of life, free of unwanted and inappropriate feelings, emotions, sensations, attitudes and psychosomatic pain.
The Applied Metapsychology approach is unique in that the client is considered the authority of his mental environment. The facilitator of the one-on-one sessions creates a customized Life Stress Reduction case plan to address each one of the client’s issues. The Life Stress Reduction program is considered completed when the client feels that all the issues he presented in the initial interview have been thoroughly address and resolved. The average time to complete a Life Stress Reduction program is between 20 and 40 hours. As a typical session runs around two hours, this amounts to 10 to 20 sessions, or 5 to 10 weeks of work, at two sessions a week. In most cases, this approach for resolving psychological issues is a lot faster than traditional methods.
While traditional psychology focuses on ideas and behavior, Applied Metapsychology complements psychology by helping the client identify not only ideas but also the force of stored, repressed pain. A lifetime accumulation of force influences and distorts ideas, resulting in unwanted character traits and behavior. Applied Metapsychology contains a method for identifying and releasing this force or emotional “charge.” Once charge is released, unwanted behavior, feelings, and character traits disappear and distorted ideas straighten themselves out.
Applied Metapsychology seeks neither to interpret nor to modify people’s behavior and ideas, nor does it involve putting labels on either one. It simply helps people rid themselves of mental pain. The rest people do for themselves.
It is not at all unusual for Life Stress Reduction to produce stable relief from conditions that individuals have attempted unsuccessfully for years to resolve, such as:
• Rocky relationships; verbal & sexual abuse
• Frustration with work, career and projects; blunted or failed goals
• Low self esteem; distress regarding body image
• Traumatic stress and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Traumatic grief; prolonged grief and sorrow from loss of loved ones and pets
• Chronic upsets and worries; anger with known or unknown cause
• Anxiety or worry about the future or upcoming future events, probable or improbable
