Light Vacuum Cleaners that are a Real Joy to Use!

Vacuum Cleaners that are a 'Joy to Use'? Are you kidding? Not at all...
(This is not an attempt to sell or market vacuums - rather to address a problem that's very real...)
Not exactly the sexiest subject, I know! But not being able to do even the most simple tasks yourself can be a big deal. I was in a group of people, rehabilitating in various ways, brainstorming various strategies to make life 'possible' again and vacuuming was a serious worry for many people - male and female... I started to pooh pooh the idea and then I realized that it was a serious problem for me too. So I started researching and found this solution - which I use myself and which I absolutely love.
Vacuuming is a necessary evil. T be honest cleaning my home feels pretty darn good when you haven't been able to take care of yourself or your home for a while. It feels good at the time and once it's done. It's a simple and perhaps mundane activity for most but one that physical disability makes really difficult and afterwards I am often totally exhausted.
A light, easy to use, easy to carry, very efficient vacuum cleaner makes a lot of difference. Maneuvering a heavy, awkward cleaner is hard work and if energy is a precious commodity for you, why waste it? Because this is so possible it actually makes putting the vacuum round a pleasure!
With a family I need to vacuum a lot and over the years I have tried dozens of vacuum cleaners, looking for one that I can use quickly and that will work well and not either wear out or wear me out. The Oreck cleaner is an upright cleaner - which I find easy and efficient. Being an upright cleaner, it also helps me balance and walk.
It's the lightest upright I could find and yet it's also one of the most efficient vacuums I've ever used. It has a very large bag that doesn't need emptying too often - and the bags are good quality so they don't split open (which I hate!). It's also well made and doesn't need a lot of fiddling with to keep it in good working order.
Being light I can carry it upstairs in one hand and hold on to the railing with the other. For me, that's important. Carrying the vacuum to a different floor was something I always had to ask for help with - and I value my independence. Not only that it required me to plan in advance and I didn't want to have to waste precious memory on something so mundane!
See what you think? And please let me know how useful you found this page and link!
