- Joining ReBuildingYou will connect you to other people who are in the same process that you are - and we’d like to invite you to join the Village Forum
- Using the online counselling/coaching – and even using the website itself - will connect you directly to a professional partner and counseling/ coaching help to develop a ReBuilding plan and read about the strategies that other people used
- There is lots of information here and the opportunity to share – and learn – many very helpful strategies…

4. Would you communicate with my other therapists ie (physio, occupational and speech) and doctors?
- Certainly, if you requested it. On a one-on-one basis, as your online counsellor or coach - link to my counsellor coach page - I would be happy to communicate with your other therapists. Provided, of course, they are willing to email or write to me. That all of your therapists be connected is my hope…
5. What is the value of having yet another therapist to help me - ie you?
- ReBuildingYou will be your professional partner and assistant to help you organize and co-ordinate your team of therapists and doctors - to help you make sure that your complete rebuilding need is met.
- I will only be involved as an individual counsellor/coach if you decide to take that step. Otherwise ReBuildingYou will guide and support you to organize your own rehabilitation
- Other therapists are often glad that you have assistance in pulling together your whole rebuilding plan as they are very much aware that this is necessary and not usually provided
6. How do I know that you are who you say you are?
- Check me out! I am a registered counselor in Canada and you can read my bio on the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) website
- I am also registered on the Rebuilding website that is part of Dr Bruce Fisher’s organization.
- Please check out my testimonials – which are references – or ask your doctor to contact me and I will be very happy to give them my official references
- I have a professional website at www.JulieTaylorRPC.com – come and see me!
7. Why would you be any different from any of the other counselors and therapists that I’ve seen?
- That’s a very good question and I will try to answer it…
- Twenty three years ago I was involved in an accident myself and ended up on life support and in a coma for several weeks. I spent another few weeks blind and paralyzed. I am now mostly recovered – and because of my experience, I know personally what it is like to live with brain injury. I understand what it feels like to be very disabled for years. And there is little better in life than being truly understood…
- Eventually, after about 10 years, I learned to walk again and I was able to go back to work. It took me ten years to regain my health and life. The whole point of this website is that I would like your recovery to be faster, stronger, easier and more comfortable than my own.
8. I can’t afford a private coach or a counselor but I would like to know more about all the other therapists and what they do?
- We welcome you to join ReBuildingYou for free!
- Please read all of the articles and information that is posted on the site.
- There are also articles by each type of therapist, describing what they do.
- There are also articles from a survivors’ point of view – ‘experienced’.
- There is no need for you to spend a penny or a dime on our services.
9. I don’t have a computer…
- That is certainly a showstopper!
I’m kidding…
- Download the free ReBuildingYou brochure (coming soon in early 2009).
- Every journey has to start with the first step. If you decide that this is a service that would be valuable to you, please email me and let me know. There are computers which are free to use in every library and for a small charge in some internet cafes.
- We can talk about what you need and where you could get it
- A computer – ideally a laptop or portable computer – is the single best gift that anyone can buy you following trauma.
- A group of friends held a benefit for my close friend who had cancer and out of the funds raised they bought her a laptop computer. She had never used a computer or email before. And for many weeks she didn’t use it as a computer but more like a private TV for her in the hospital so that she could watch movies. She was also able to listen to her own music.
- Eventually she began to email with her friends – who were excited to be able to send her photos and videos of their lives at home. Now, several years later, she is still disabled but she works from home on her computer.
10. I can’t afford a computer but I can see how I would benefit from this program. I would love to be able to join…
- Whereabouts do you live?
- Is there an association in your community for your disability? Email me and I will connect you.
- Do you have a local social worker? It may be worth trying to persuade these resources to help you get a computer and the internet.
- If you try to access a computer but have no luck getting one for yourself, please feel free to email me with their contact information and I will try for you.
- Please register with us and email us and tell us about the problems you’re experiencing and if we get a new idea or manage to get some funding for computers we will let you know straight away.
11. My rehabilitation is just physical; I don’t need a holistic approach as my hospital are handling my rehabilitation…
- It sounds as if you are in good control of your own rehabilitation. If ever you have a question about anything that comes up for you please feel welcome to email me
12. I am on the waiting list at my local hospital and I don’t know yet what they will want me to do
- The very best experience I had recently was in a hospital neuro-rehab program… I would love to know whether you will have to join a waitlist or whether they will see you right away?
- Write to us and let us know if there was any therapy that was included there that we do not yet have on this website? Could you let us know and we can share that therapy with our readers? We look forward to hearing from you…
- Even while you are waiting for a program to start, ReBuildingYou communities may ground you and prepare you to work at a more efficient level with the hospital when your turn for treatment comes round.
