The whole subject of treatment for those with high functioning ABI is relatively new and the diagnosis of brain-fog has only recently been accepted.

Patients who have aphasia -and cannot speak - so obviously need our help but medicine has just started to take notice of the less obvious, higher functioning - but still compromised - ABI clients too. These problems are almost invisible and easily missed.

The very thing higher functioning clients are unable to do is to express clearly what they need... And no-one can easily see it. Help is at hand.  As more patients are helped there needs to be a loud chorus of appreciation - and a demand for the help we need. Only then will the Health Authorities and Medical Insurance Companies understand this need.

These excellent speech therapy books for adults are unique and hot off the press and are available only through this website. Until more information about these excellent and effective speech therapy books is available here, please order What I Mean Is... (for higher functioning patients) or email me about the other books. I look forward to hearing from you!

It was really difficult to tell clients and their caregiver that the books existed but with the help of the internet, this has changed!  Now clients can learn about these books and ask their speech therapists about them.  And no-one would be happier than the professionals in the rehabilitation field to be able to help higher functioning patients with language needs to reach their potential. Please let the medical profession know that we need and value their help. We have to ask for what we need at every level and stop feeling guilty for asking (because there are others worse off than we are). We all deserve the best help available. Health Authorities and Medical Insurance Plans need to hear our demands...

I would also like to invite you to send in your experiences which will help us know better what works and how to modify the treatment that's available. This whole subject is very new and we need feedback in order to improve and progress. Your thoughts - however unimportant they may seem to you - are really important to us. (Let me know if you would like me to add your first name or whether you would rather remain anonymous.)
