World Religions Promote Healing

Human beings all over the world have many different religions - all of them sharing significant beliefs. The more Ancient the people and religion, the more the religion seems to have had a less organized system. Ancient beliefs seem to be more spirituality, integral in the very existence of the people. In more recent times religion seems to have become more organized.
Many extremist organizations have also sprung up - some recently and some have been around for a long time. Please remember that these extremist ‘arms' of a faith really have very little to do with the majority of believers in that faith.
Faith - perhaps as an organized religion - can be a great support in difficult times. ReBuilding from a severe trauma, whether physical or emotional, counts as difficult. Having faith gives you something to hold on to when there seems to be little else. Most importantly (for me) is what I've found personally: Even when I was open about the fact that I felt deserted in my time of need and by any god - "Why and how could this have happened to me if there was a god?" - some of most loving and helpful people have been openly religious. When I was still severely disabled, alone and with 3 young children, a wonderful woman named Judy would call by my house - never once pushing her religion. She would offer to babysit for an hour (or once for a whole weekend). She was 
my neighbour and an amazingly loving and generous spirit - which I have seen over and over in those who have a faith that feeds their spirit so that they are able to give.
If nothing else, if you are unable to get about right now, reading about the various major religions can be interesting. All of the articles here will eventually be replaced (my dearest hope) by gentle, loving, ‘real' people who practice their religion in their lives and in the world. (Some of these articles right now are a bit soulless and ‘textbook') Soon you will be able to see more clearly how each faith fits in to real life...
